About TYE NJ

Helping teens turn entrepreneurs

Across the world, teenagers are changing the world, one venture at a time. Enter TYE NJ, which aims to enable these young entrepreneurs and put them on the path to long-term success.

TYE NJ, the local chapter of the TYE Global program, focuses on teenagers (Grade 9-12) who are keen to explore the challenges and rewards of becoming an entrepreneur.

The TYE educational program offers instruction and mentorship from business leaders. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in local and global business plan competitions.

Core Team:

Mitesh Majithia – TYE NJ Program Lead

Shubha Ramaswamy – TYE NJ Co-Lead

Sunil Agarwal – TiE NJ Executive Director

Program Content

The Program starts off in the fall with weekly workshops taught by local business leaders and successful entrepreneurs.

The focus of these sessions will be on learning the basics of business, including developing a product idea, product validation, product development, marketing, sales, finance, and most importantly, experiencing the journey of an entrepreneur first hand from ideation to creating a viable business.

Students get to listen in as entrepreneurs share personal experiences of successful milestones and challenges faced along the way.

Start-up Afternoon

A Start-up afternoon session will be organized midway through the program. Students will form groups based on areas of interest. Working in these groups and guided by a mentor they will bring their ideas to life by creating and building their own business plan.

In the spring, these teams will compete at TYE NJ business plan competition and the winners will be invited to compete at the Global TYE Business Challenge in Boston MA with students around the world.
